5 Steps to Impress Your Interviewer

You have sent in your resume, talked with a recruiter, and now you’re preparing for a face to face interview – follow these 5 steps to impress your interviewer and increase your chances of getting an offer!

Arrive Early

It’s always a good idea to be at least 15 minutes early for your interview. It shows your interviewer that you made the interview a priority in your day by making the effort to show up early.

Dress Appropriately

The dress attire you choose for your interview says a lot about you, and your level of interest in the job. For example, if you show up in pajamas, your interviewer may get the impression that you don’t care. Business casual is always best. Also, your interview is not the time to try out a wacky hairstyle, wear excessive make-up, or inappropriate clothing.

Answer Questions Directly & Professionally

Try to avoid long, drawn-out answers to the interviewer’s questions.  Be direct and to the point with your responses.  Be sure to answer in a way that highlights the positive aspects of your work history and skill set. Also remember to be respectful, and to speak clearly when you answer your interviewer.

Eye Contact

Making eye contact with your interviewer shows that you are confident in yourself, and therefore your ability to perform the job you are interviewing for.

Smile

Remember to bring your smile with you to the interview! Showing off those pearly whites is a great way to show your interviewer that you are excited about starting the job.

Follow these simple 5 steps to impress your interviewer, and you just may get that offer!
